This is my 50th post. In celebration of 50 images posted I am posting one of my favorites. I took this photo in April of 2004 on the campus of Georgetown University in Washington, DC. This image doesn’t work in color at all. The contrast and symmetry really help to sell it.

You're right, the symmetry is great. Adding to that, I like how the shadows stagger to the right while the stairwell reflection on the left is slightly warped as though the image is about to change itself.
This is shopped. You can clearly see the pixels…and I've seen a few shops in my day.
