Banana Spider

Banana Spider

I was in Gainesville, FL recently and ran across this very large Banana Spider (aka Golden Silk Orb weaver). I’m not 100% pleased with the depth of field on this one, but I’m still learning what I can and can’t do with this new Canon 100mm macro lens.

Wow, really cool macro ! Although the head seems a little bit blurred and overexposed, but as you said, we always have a lot to learn.

Takes a lot of light to get a good DOF/F-stop. f22 or higher might have helped. what was the f stop/shutter speed/iso? shutter speed was adequite as it has tack sharp sections. I like the apparent backlighting as the legs look translucent. 100mm gives you standoff but hurts DOF compared to a 50mm.

    Spiders are completely overrated.
